Make Your House a Show Stopper
~ First Impressions.........
Are Lasting Impressions
Helpful Hints ...
- Invite a firend, your REALTORĀ®, to help you stage your house for showing
- Make sure your front door and entry way are clean and clear of clutter. Keep excess shoes away from the door.
-
If it has snowed, be certain that ice and snow are removed from the walkway and steps.
-
Pack up all non-essential personal belongings and rent a storage space if neccessary. We want prospective buyers to feel like it could be their future home, not yours.
-
Closets and cupboards look much larger if not completely filled. Make them look bigger by having them neat and well organized to show that you house has ample closet and storage space.
-
All windows and mirrors should be washed to allow as much light in as possible.
-
Ensure all door locks are in smooth working order.
-
Replace any burnt out light bulbs.
Just immediately prior to a showing it is a good idea to:
-
Turn on all lights, open drapes and on a warm day have ceiling fans going.
-
Remove most of your family pictures and momentos.
-
Put a small dish of vanilla or cinnamon on warm stove - aroma!
-
Put our your best towels and linens.
-
Turn your stereo on low to some easy listening music.
-
Fresh flowers give warmth and life to any room.
-
No pets allowed: keep pets, litter boxes and feeding dishes out of the way.
-
Three's a Crowd: Avoid being present during showings as the potential buyer will feel like they are inconveniencing you and will hurry through the house.
